About the Event

The upcoming Scattergood Reunion with an attention to the Arts, happening August 3-6, will be a great opportunity for our community members to reconnect with one another. You can enjoy meals made with produce grown at the Scattergood Farm. You can attend optional workshops to practice a new art skill or to learn about exciting things happening at Scattergood. And you can reminisce on the time you spent here. We'll also be celebrating the Class of 1973's 50th reunion and 1998's 25th reunion. Take a look at the Reunion Itinerary to get a sense of the days' activities. If you have an idea for a workshop you would like to lead, there's still time. Simply reach out to Linda Corbin-Pardee at lcorbinpardee@gmail.com with your idea. General ideas and comments can be sent to Ethan Huelskamp at development@scattergood.org.

Cost of Attendance

Scattergood is committed to making sure all alumni are able to attend this reunion. The reunion is free to attend. However, we have suggested, pay-what-you-can rates to help offset the cost of hosting this event. For graduates before the year 2000, the suggested rate is $250. For those who graduated after 2000, the suggested rate is $125. Gifts over that amount are certainly welcome as they help subsidize the cost for those unable to pay as much. You can make a contribution by mailing a check to the Scattergood business office (1951 Delta Ave, West Branch, IA 52358) with "reunion" in the memo or online through this giving page.

Art Gallery & Auction

Scattergoodians have always produced art. We want to showcase that artwork to the community. We will have an art gallery set up in the auditorium during the reunion. As part of this, artists have the option of donating their work(s) to Scattergood for our silent auction which will conclude on the night of Saturday August 5th. Please complete the Art Gallery Submission Form if you would like to submit art for the gallery. If you are unable to attend the reunion but would still like to see your creations showcased, you can still do so. Our silent auction is being hosted by Givebutter. You can participate in the auction from Friday August 4th, 8:00PM to Saturday August 5th, 8:00PM.

Workshops

Throughout the day on Friday and Saturday there will be blocks of time for people to attend optional workshops. We are continuing to grow the workshop options. Confirmed workshops include Paper Feather Making with Wendy Bale '76, The Scattergood Middle School Q&A with Jamie Newton; Scattergood Alumni Association with Steve Tamari '77, Knitting Circle with Kris Hilgendorf '77, Lunch Prep with Irving Treadway '84. If you have an idea for a workshop you would like to lead, there's still time. Simply reach out to Linda Corbin-Pardee at lcorbinpardee@gmail.com with your idea.

List of Attendees

Each week we will update a List of Attendees. Hopefully this will help encourage classmates to come, and it might help facilitate people carpooling. When you complete your Registration Form, there is a question that allows you to opt out of being included in the list.

Airport Shuttles

We will be providing airport shuttles for those flying into the Cedar Rapids Airport (CID). Pick ups will depart the airport Thursday August 3 at 3:30pm CST; Friday August 4 at 10:00am CST; Friday August 4 at 3:00pm CST. Drop offs will arrive at the airport on Sunday August 6 at 8:00am CST and Sunday August 6 at 12:30pm CST. You can reserve a spot on the shuttles by completing the Registration Form.

Lodging Details

A few options for lodging exist for the reunion. On campus lodging options include staying in the dorms or camping. Dorm lodging will be allotted on a first-come-first-served basis. Be mindful that our dorms do not have air conditioning. Furthermore, individuals requesting dorm lodging should anticipate having a roommate for the event. We will try to prioritize pairing alumni who attended around the same time. Our dorm beds are twin sized. Please bring bedding, pillows, and towels. If you choose to camp for the event, you will have access to the showers in the gymnasium.

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Highlander Hotel. You can access our group rate by calling them at 319-354-2000 and tell them you're with Scattergood. You can also choose to stay at the West Branch Days Inn. Reserve a room with them by calling 319-449-1726. We will have a shuttle going to and from both hotels in the morning, before and after meals, and in the evening.
