Advisory Program
The high school advisory program at Scattergood provides additional support for students. Advisors keep track of their advisee’s academic and social progress and help with specific issues, make their advisee a birthday cake, and check on them when they are sick. Students and their advisors have lunch together every Friday and most advisors plan off-campus outings with their advisee group at least once each semester.
The advising system is a way to make sure that each student has at least one go-to person on staff. Advisors maintain regular contact with parents through community life reports which provide an overview of the student’s wellbeing in the dorm, crew, health, social life, daily expectations, and community involvement.
Health and Wellness
The school nurse monitors student illnesses, dispenses medication, tends to minor injuries and illnesses, and refers to local medical professionals when necessary. The school nurse will also assist in making appointments and arranging transportation when outside care is needed.
