Living and learning in a community can be a highly rewarding and valuable experience for students. Weekdays at Scattergood are full of academic classes, electives, as well as community activities that provide additional opportunities to learn and lead. Whether a day or boarding student, participation in community life is an essential component of the Scattergood experience, helping to establish and solidify connections both to the school and between individuals in the community.
Weekends at Scattergood offer a mix of downtime, school-sponsored events, optional activities, and open kitchen and art studios for baking and making. Day students are welcome to visit campus, attend activities, or spend the weekend with prior approval.
“I originally came here because of the academics but I’ve stayed for the community. I think Scattergood is kind of a hard concept to explain to people who haven’t been here, but I’ve met people at this school who I don’t think I could ever meet anywhere else.”
