Employment Opportunities

Scattergood’s educational program incorporates wilderness trips, community service and shared crew program, and experiential learning. Our campus includes a working organic farm, restored prairie, pastures, and pond. These spaces serve as living laboratories for inquiry and project-based learning.

Community life at Scattergood requires a commitment to live out the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship. Students and staff are persons with diverse identities, cultures, belief systems, and backgrounds. We share our lives authentically, embrace diversity, and do the hard work necessary to have open conversations about our differences.

While roles vary, staff are expected to participate fully in the community during the school year. This may include:

  • Leading a daily crew which includes campus clean up.
  • Joining the community for a family-style lunch daily.
  • Attending weekly staff and community meetings.
  • Attending annual all-school events.
  • Serving as an advisor to students.

Many full-time staff live on campus with their families in private housing units. Availability of and need for on-campus housing will be discussed during the interview process.
