Frequently Asked Questions

  • Does Camp Scattergood provide lunch?

No, we ask that all campers arrive each day with a lunch and snack.  We will visit the farm and pick fresh produce for snacks, which will also be available at lunch from time to time. We ask that campers do not bring heat-up meals.

  • Is Camp Scattergood a religious camp?

While Scattergood is a Quaker school rooted in principles like Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship (SPICES) there is no religion  focus. That said, we do ask campers to begin and end each day with a short period of silent reflection to help us focus and prepare for or let go of the day. Campers of all faith (or non-faith) backgrounds are welcome to join us and share in the fun and adventure of Camp Scattergood.

  • What types of activities will campers do?

Each day campers will participate in a variety of activities ranging from arts and crafts to Games to walks in our restored prairie to trips to our organic farm.  Scattergood’s 146 acre campus offers a bounty of opportunities for campers to have adventures with our staff, and we plan to make use of all of it.

  • Who will my camper be with during the day?

Each camper will be placed in a unit based on their age/grade with roughly a dozen campers per unit.  Each unit will be assigned two counselors who will stay with the unit for the entire day, leading them from activity to activity, ensuring sunscreen and water breaks are tended to, and serving as a point of contact for parents during pick up and drop off. Activities will be run by teachers, including some of Scattergood’s staff.

  • What happens when it rains?

While we plan to be outside as much as possible, there may be times when we are forced to move inside.  Should that happen, we will take advantage of our gymnasium, auditorium, and dining room, in addition to the art studios which will be in use.

  • Will there be any screen time at Camp Scattergood?

No. We are committed to engaging students through activities that do not rely on screens.
