Scattergood Friends School was founded in 1890 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) for the education of Friends’ children. Today, Scattergood families come from many different religious and non-denominational backgrounds with about 20% of staff and students being Quaker. Scattergood continues to be guided by the testimonies of Quakerism known as the SPICES: simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship.
We are dedicated to the growth of the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—and to the stewardship of the Earth. Learn more about these testimonies and how they impact learning and living at Scattergood.
What Students are Saying

"I’ve never been happier than I am now, at Scattergood. I’ve found myself really appreciative of the community and of the general culture of welcoming at Scattergood. The academics far exceeded my expectations as well, providing ways to challenge myself more through the small class sizes."

"Scattergood Friends School really shaped me for the better. Being here, I’ve learned more academically and social-emotionally than I ever had in a public school. I walk into classes not dreading the day ahead and go to bed excited for the next one."
