Projects & P.E.

Projects

In addition to providing our students with an exceptional academic experience in core subjects, we also invite students to explore new interests and gain skills through our project classes. Course offerings for each of these areas change each quarter giving students many opportunities for creativity and movement.

Most project classes are in the area of Fine Arts, though other related classes are offered as well with unifying themes of creativity and developing hands-on skills. Recent courses have included: Miniature Painting, Papermaking, Wheel Ceramics, Bookbinding, Project Rock Band, Food Preservation, Animal Husbandry, and Paleolithic Technology.

P.E.

Physical activity is vital for all community members’ health and wellbeing. A wide variety of P.E. offerings encourage students to stay active both through individual pursuits and interscholastic sports.

Examples include: Soccer, Fencing, Basketball, Rock Climbing, Yoga, Latin Dance, Farm Team, Swimming, and Ultimate Frisbee.

Independent Studies

Project and P.E. classes are another area in which students are encouraged to pursue individually-mentored independent studies if they are excited about subjects outside of the scope of our curriculum. Care is taken by the staff and student review committee to ensure that these classes have equal or higher standards than our regular P.E. and project classes.

Examples include:  Piano Performance, Advanced Ceramics, Guitar Performance, Physical Fitness, Chinese Calligraphy, Modern Dance, Advanced Yoga, and Hiking.
