Life at Scattergood is a many-faceted tapestry of academics, community life and service.  As Assistant Head of School, my responsibilities focus on students’ experiences in residential living: dorm life, activities for learning life skills, community accountability practices, student orientation and advising.  I also regularly communicate with parents about their children’s accomplishments and needs.
Residential life encompasses a large part of students’ days.  They have varied opportunities to contribute to and shape the community we share.  Returning students are involved in welcoming and orienting new students.  Students are essential members of school committees, serving on the Assistant Head’s Advisory Committee, and providing leadership in Scattergood’s accountability system.  Using student input, I coordinate with dorm sponsors and advisors to create a caring, nurturing, and engaging environment, fostering safety, wellness, and social and emotional growth.
We also aim to infuse fun and joy into Scattergood activities!  If you are a prospective student, we invite you to visit our campus, spend a night or two in the dorm and participate in classes and crew.  Spend some time immersed in Scattergood’s vibrant daily life, and you’ll see and feel what’s special about this amazing community.
