Summer Camps and Weekend Programs

Organic Farm Day Camp

Campers going into Grades 3-5* and Grades 6-8* will explore and learn on Scattergood's 8-acre organic farm as they taste veggies right out of the garden, care for livestock, swim in the pond, and get satisfyingly dirty in the process. A major component of Organic Farm Camp is camper-led activity selection and unstructured outdoor play. A fun side benefit to having a kid in Farm Camp is enjoying the organic vegetables the campers harvest and bring home! Camp director Dana Foster has 20+ years of experience with the Scattergood farm and kitchen, and also directed a residential wilderness camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains for 13 years.

Farm-to-Table Culinary Day Camp

Campers going into Grades 5-8* will explore and learn on Scattergood's 10-acre organic farm as they taste veggies right out of the garden, select and harvest produce, and make and eat delicious meals together.  Campers will also enjoy a cooling dip in the Scattergood pond and will bring home extra vegetables and leftovers! Camp director Dana Foster has 20+ years of experience with the Scattergood farm and kitchen, and also directed a residential wilderness camp in the Blue Ridge Mountains for 13 years.


*Campers outside of (but close to) these age ranges will be considered if their parent feels the camp will be a good match for their child.  Please contact Farm Camp director Dana at dana@scattergood.org to discuss the possibility before submitting the registration form.

+option: transportation to/from Iowa City $50 per week
