Amy is an artist who has over 20 years experience working for or serving on the boards of arts non-profits. She worked to guide organizations in Washington State and Texas to maturity through clarifying vision and identifying program needs and structures. She most recently served on the Board of Arts Iowa City, a non-profit focused on creating enhanced accessibility to the arts in Iowa City through establishing a new arts center.
Before coming to Scattergood, Amy lived on Bainbridge Island, Washington where she was a founding member of Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) which is creating a facility to serve community while educating and promoting collaboration across art disciplines from cooking and woodworking to electronics. Arts administrator roles have included Conservatory Director at West Sound Academy in Poulsbo, Washington, and Education Director at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in Houston, Texas. Trained as a tapestry weaver and dyer and working as an artist since 1986, she focuses almost exclusively on dyeing and painting using natural dyes and non-toxic mordants.
